Debut albums can be amazing. That’s where a band’s hunger to succeed is greatest, and that can pay off big time in a studio. Yes sometimes inexperience prevails, but every now and then that hunger for greatness prevails and that’s what happened with Saving Abel’s debut album for Virgin Records. The band is generally a great rock band, drums, guitars, bass; everything sound’s exceptional with on the band’s debut. Part of that is Skid Mills being a great producer and the other part of that is the talent that Saving Abel has. The vocals on the record are where this record is strongest. Jared Weeks is flat out amazing. He’s got the range and the voice of somebody like Pat Stump, but he’s singing rock music. Simply Weeks shows off some serious skills. Whether that be on the single “Addicted” or the Mills’ co-write “Running From You.” Saving Abel is this year’s frontrunner for best new band, their influenced by bands like Greenwheel, Injected, One Less Reason, and a ton of other quality acts, they’ve got great writing abilities, AND Weeks’ vocals are outstanding.
